Cork flooring is naturally resilient, so most items bounce right off of its tiles without leaving a dent. However, if you leave furniture sitting on it for an extended time, small dents may form in the surface. Once you move the furniture, the flooring may resume its regular shape. If it doesn’t, there are simple repairs to remove a cork floor dent. If the dents are large, you might want to unsnap the locking cork tiles and replace the damaged flooring tiles. For small dents, you can make the repairs directly to the tiles.

• Wipe the tiles that need repair clean with a damp sponge. Let the tile dry Locate a scrap tile or a new tile that matches your cork floor.
• Hold the scrap tile over a container to catch the dust. Rub coarse sandpaper along the edge of the tile to make dust. Stop when you have enough dust to fill the dents in the flooring.
• Mix the cork dust with a small amount of clear polyurethane, using a craft stick. The mixture should be the density of putty.
• Spread the dust and polyurethane mixture into the dents. Level it off with a clean craft stick. Allow it to dry overnight.
• Seal the repaired areas with a coat of clear polyurethane, applied with a paintbrush. Feather the polyurethane around the edge of the repair to get a good seal with the surrounding surface. Allow the polyurethane time to dry following the manufacturer’s recommendations. Temperature and humidity can affect drying time.
• Move furniture back to the area you repaired. Set protective pads under the furniture to prevent dents in the future.
